Textiles and Apparel Students Showcase Designs at 2011 Fashion Show “Innovation”
Students are using sustainable fabrics and embracing technology, designing digital prints, creating laser-cut patterns and working with textured knits.

Event: Students from the Division of Textiles and Apparel in the School of Human Ecology will debut their original fashion designs at the annual Fashion Show entitled "Innovation."
When: 8 p.m., Thursday, April 21. A pre-show exposition will open at 6:30 p.m.
Where: Frank Erwin Center on The University of Texas at Austin campus
Background: The Division of Textiles and Apparel stages an annual fashion event to showcase designs of graduating seniors in the apparel design program. The students will president 96 original designs on the runway, including "Game Day" dresses in burnt orange and individual collections inspired by the geometry and nature. The students are using sustainable fabrics and embracing technology, designing digital prints, creating laser-cut patterns and working with textured knits.
The event drew more than 5,000 attendees last year, and an even bigger audience is expected this year. Prizes are awarded for Best Fashion Collection, Most Innovative Fashion Collection, Most Marketable Fashion Collection, Best Constructed Fashion Collection, and Best Evening and Bridal Gown. Winners will be determined by a panel of judges composed of professionals in the fashion industry.
The fashion show and exposition are sponsored by the University Co-operative Society, Sephora Cosmetics, Colbalt Blue Hair Salon, the Students Events Center, Texas Student Media, Tribeza Magazine, Austin Woman Magazine and Fashionably Austin.
