Director
Jennifer Wilson
Dr. Wilson's fashion industry experience spans merchandising, retailing, design and event planning. She has taught numerous courses across the discipline throughout her 15+ years of teaching and strives to convey the ways that merchandising and design are highly collaborative and dependent upon each other for success in the industry. Dr. Wilson enjoys engaging with industry partners, bringing them into her courses as speakers or for experiential class projects to provide hands-on learning opportunities for her students.
In addition to teaching, Professor Wilson is the faculty advisor for UT's student chapter of the National Retail Federation (NRF) Student Association, taking students to NYC each January for the annual conference and she is the faculty contact for the Fashion Scholarship Fund (FSF) at The University of Texas, working with students each year on winning scholarship competition cases. Her research centers on consumer behavior, in particular, the ways that locally-owned retailers may positively impact downtown revitalization and she advises Plan II students with research interests centered on retail business practices, sustainability and more. Furthermore, she enjoys staying connected to the discipline through her committee roles in the International Textile and Apparel Association (ITAA) and Textile and Apparel Accreditation Commission (TAPAC).
